The new year begins in a couple of days. I selected a five rune cross spread to look at influences going forward into the new year. As many are considering their own spirituality, I thought about how energy flows into manifestation. It can be manifestation of anything – ideas, projects, relationships, or even our very manifestation into physical form. The spread flows from Nauthiz to Thurisaz, then to Raidho and then Mannaz, with Perthro completing the circuit. Energy flows from Akash to Air to Fire to Water to Earth. All Elemental energies are involved in creative manifestation.

Assisting divination, I’ve included specific crystals to enhance energy flow. All Elemental Energies are represented. Beginning with lapis lazuli as the choice of rune stones, enlightenment and awakening are both enhanced. Several crystals, hematite and obsidian, both Fire Element crystals, enhance protective energy. Amethyst, (Water Element) awakens the third eye, intuition and awareness, while carnelian (Fire) focuses our desire and creativity. Smokey quartz and red jasper (both Fire Element) add energy for grounding, while bloodstone (also Fire) eases change. Botswana agate and opal, both Water Element crystals, increase love energy and bring a sense of calm. Desert Rose, a form of selenite, represents Akash or Spirit, adding clarity and a connection with our Divine Essence.

The most basic form of platonic solids, I’ve also included tetrahedrons to enhance manifestation between the nonphysical and physical realms. They’re part of our Sacred Geometry, the language of creation. Three are created from aventurine, bringing balance and creative force to the divination, while one is created from amethyst, awakening third eye awareness and intuition.

The first position, Nauthiz represents basic influences; Thurisaz, in the second position, indicates obstacles to overcome; Raidho, in the third position, illustrates beneficial processes at play; Mannaz, suggests possible outcomes in the fourth position; and, in the final position, Perthro reveals potential influences on the future outcome.

Nauthiz, or need-fire, represents what’s necessary. It’s the conflict between truth and illusion and the inevitable drama which results. This Fire Element rune is the primary focus of our discernment while in physical form. Do we fulfill needs of the ego or of spirit?

Thurisaz, another Fire Element rune, would suggest that we be mindful of the use of power in our effort to find solutions. It encourages the proper use of focus when balancing our personal power. Is our power one of control over others, or do we understand that we have power over only ourselves. Again, the conflict between ego and spirit is at play.

Raidho encourages us to go with flow, enjoying the journey along the way. An Air Element rune, Raidho represents our inner compass, our alignment with Source, our living in the now, the most beneficial process we have in our focus into physical form.

The possible outcome is represented by Mannaz, an Earth Element rune. Mannaz represents humankind, our collective extension of Source Energy in the physical realm. It represents immanence and oneness with all.

In the final position sits Perthro. This rune represents potential influences on the outcome. Perthro represents change and the unknown. Endless possibilities exist within our creative force as Perthro’s Water Elemental energy flows from the unmanifested to the manifested.

When we focus or manifest into physical form, Elemental energies or states are at work enabling this process to happen. It begins with the expansion of Akasha or Spirit, passing next to Air which moves, generating heat, next enhanced and expanded by Fire, then beginning the contraction with Water, resulting in the the stabilizing force of inertia as we manifest into physical form. Although there is an order to the spread, it’s only for convenience and presentation.

In this spread then, although it appears in the last position, Akasha can be represented by Perthro, propelled by Elemental Air moving as Raidho, a focused flow generating increased motion and heat, expanding further through Elemental Fire with the need-fire of Nauthiz and the power of Thurisaz, beginning the contraction by Elemental Water into physical form, with Perthro focusing its energy in this stage, bringing the culmination of Earth Elemental energy in our manifestation into physical form expressed by Mannaz, our collective existence as One.

If we’re thinking about spiritual development, Nauthiz reminds us to begin that process by understanding the difference between truth and illusion, spirit and ego, choosing to focus on our reality as Spirit as we engage in the world. Maintaining that focus is preserved and reinforced by wisely choosing how we express our power in this life, aligning with Spirit in lieu of the ego. Raidho encourages us to stay in the flow of the now as our most beneficial process as we unite together in Mannaz. Endless possibilities for future influences exist in the final position of Perthro. That it also begins the flow of creation in Akasha is appropriate given its flow from the unmanifested into the manifested.

I believe our focus into physical form is a constant process. We aren’t dumped here only to make the best of things before we’re re-united with our Creator. The energy of our creation never stops. I believe we are just as connected to Source in the physical realm as we are in the nonphysical realm. And if we’re all extensions of Source as I believe we are, we are also just as connected with each other, both here and there. If we forget that, we focus on what separated us, and the drama ensues. Staying aligned with who we are ensures we engage with each other on the level of Spirit, instead of through the lens of separation. For all the illusion of separate form out there, our true reality is that of oneness. We come from our collective essence as Spirit, emerge into the illusion of separate form, struggle through life, believe our return to collective oneness happens only at death, when in fact we never leave it at all.

Runes express our journey of manifestation from the nonphysical to and through the physical realm and back again. They remind us to stay focused on our true reality and that all roads lead to oneness.

Blessings in the new year!

and

Blessed Be the Runes and our One Family!
