The Feminine Influence

We have a female Presidential candidate. Let that sink in for a moment, will you? She’s strong and steady and will lead with a full heart and an intelligent mind. But then that’s Hillary. I think it’s telling when people suggest that women will vote for her because she’s a woman. Please. That’s ridiculous. Women are far more intelligent than that. We actually consider what candidates have to say. We ask questions. We think about the answers we’re given. If we’re mothers, we consider the impact each candidate will have on our families.

Will the next President care about our black sons who are killed on a daily basis? Will the next President assure equal pay for equal work? Will the next President view our crumbling infrastructure as an opportunity for job development? Will the next President stand strong on racism along with the other isms that plague our country and the world at large? Will the next President work for universal health care, expanding on the Affordable Care Act? Will the next President reform our educational system and make college either free or affordable for families struggling to get by?

I had two sons in college at the same time. Somehow, according to our FAFSA applications, my husband and I were wealthy enough to pay for both boys in college. Right. All they qualified for were loans. But we didn’t complain. We did the best we could and both were graduated and are doing well in their lives. But it was insulting to see that the government was blind to the realities of family life. Do we eat, or do we send our boys to college? It really came down to that in the end. But we did it and they’re awesome.

The crazy orange haired guy is frightening enough, but the folks who support him completely blow me away. I’m all for respecting individual differences, but is anything this guy says or does beyond the pale? The military doesn’t seem to want him as their commander in chief. Besides, according to him, he knows more than they do anyway. The Presidents Bush don’t seem to want to endorse him and neither attended that sad excuse for a convention. Ours, on the other hand, was pure magick.

I didn’t appreciate the Oregon delegation behaving as they did, individual differences aside. Once the vote has been taken, it is what it is. If it’s not your candidate, you have the grace to shut the hell up, and if you can’t get behind the elected candidate, you at least have some respect for the process and you don’t disrupt the convention. It’s unseemly. Bernie fought hard and has brought real change to the Democratic Platform and when Hillary takes office next January, we’ll see that change reflected in her agenda.

But the Bernie or bust people are only shooting us all in the proverbial feet by their antics. Because that’s what they are. Antics. I can’t take any of them seriously which is sad given that I supported Bernie, gave money to his campaign, and came out as a Democratic Socialist. But when the drama started among his supporters, I couldn’t support him anymore. And I now believe that waiting until just before the convention to endorse Hillary caused more drama than it prevented. It’s not easy to lose, particularly when you’ve begun a movement, but lose he did and now we must do everything in our power to stop the crazy guy from winning.

Maybe it’s the feminine influence at work, but I believe in treating others with respect and dignity. I hear none of that from the crazy guy. From Hillary, on the other hand, she embodies and extends both to all. The racist rhetoric, the focus on guns no matter how much it compromises our safety, the single-minded notion that only he can save the country – all of this is not what we need to rise up and become the compassionate country I know that we are.

I believe in unity of purpose and that we’re all in truth one family, and the crazy guy’s divisiveness will lose in the end. I don’t understand how we became so overtly us versus them in this country. How we continually see otherness instead of family. But some have truly lost their way and prefer patriarchy and hate to reason, love and balance.

The pendulum has swung so far to the masculine or projective side of things that a return to the feminine influence is necessary to bring back balance. And although balance will be achieved irrespective of the upcoming election’s outcome, a woman at the helm may usher in a new era for our country. Someone who listens and isn’t afraid to speak her mind and say the things so many have been afraid to say.

It’s a return to the Divine Feminine in each of us, both men and women, something that’s been sorely needed for so long. Compassion, love, trust, hard work, integrity, honesty, all qualities possessed by our next Madame President, and they’re qualities that will see our country through to more successful times.

The rose quartz rune at the top is Inguz or seed. It represents creation, symmetry, cosmic law, and ideas. What seeds will we sow..what will we nurture or create anew today?

Choose wisely for it matters that much.
