In Creating Energy Channels, Attention Gives Way to Intention

It’s like when you’re in a room full of loud voices and you decide to step outside for some air. When nothing makes sense anymore, maybe we need to do just that, step outside for some air, or better yet, for some clarity. The longer we remain in uncomfortable situations, our energy becomes part of that situation whether or not we intend for that to happen. We leave a calling card of sorts or a reference point that we can return to time and time again. So stepping away from it makes sense.

We don’t give enough attention to our own peace of mind, instead giving it away to others. And then we wonder why we’re fragmented and unhappy. But for any of us to feel like we have some semblance of control over our lives, we must stop reacting to everything that we see. I remember my mother telling me to choose my battles. Without realizing it, she was telling me that always reacting potentially removes my control, placing it directly at the mercy of something or someone other than myself.

For a witch who notices everything, it’s easy for me to become fragmented, but it’s clear that these fragments make it easier for me to return to the scene of the crime as it were. Bringing my energy back into alignment pulls all of that back to a more coherent expression of Self. This practice applies as well to my thoughts.

Thought produces form on some level, even if it’s only our attention to something. A link is created providing a channel of sorts for us to travel down. With any luck, it’s a channel to something positive, be it a positive thought or situation. But all too often, we create energy channels to drama and conflict. So it makes sense to carefully consider the channels we create and if they’re uncomfortable, let them go as quickly as possible. That conscious choice alone will support us in recognizing problematic situations and over time we’ll see their futility and not engage with them at all.

We’ve all had the experience of ruminating thoughts. We think about something over and over again. We talk about it endlessly, even sharing it with strangers we encounter. In the process we’ve created a fully functioning energy channel and in so doing, we learn how to apply that process to other thoughts we have. It’s energizing and seductive, so we repeat the process until we can’t seem to find our happiness anymore, with find being the operative word here.

We’re not here to find anything, but to create everything. If we’re essentially thought-forms then everything begins and ends with our thoughts. Do our thoughts create something positive or negative? If we’re experiencing a greater amount of negativity in our lives then we really can’t look any further than where our attention is focused.

Because here’s the thing. Attention gives way to intention and it can all go downhill from there. Or not. Our choice entirely, because it’s always our choice where we place our attention. Since as humans we tend to fixate on the past, we do that because our attention has given way to intention. Oh we tell ourselves that it’s someone else’s fault that we’re giving so much attention to something that upsets us. It’s his fault that I can’t stop thinking about how upset I am over what he did. True, the guy may have been an ass, but it’s not like anyone needs to create a home to return to there.

Once we realize that we’re a little stuck, we need to immediately recognize that we put ourselves there, that we’re on a path or in an energy channel of our own making and then stop thinking about it. I know. It can’t be as simple as that. But it is. Thought produces form on some level and our emotional state is just as much an expression of form as is a rock, a table, a building, or any other so-called tangible object. Thoughts, emotions, moods, they’re all as tangible as anything we can see or touch. So lose the distinction between what we can see and touch with that which we feel. It’s all the same expression of Source Energy.

It’s not about winning an argument, but about not becoming caught up in the argument in the first place. I knew a guy once who always seemed to have an agenda with nearly every conversation we had. He’d establish a channel of conflict and then guide the conversation in the direction that fit his agenda. When he got nowhere with me, he’d attempt to leave, only to come right back and try again. One day, he did this three times before he gave up, his agenda (i.e. intention) finding no purchase. But I think this illustrates well how this flow of energy functions. If we don’t create the channel to begin with, then our interactions with others become lighter and more enjoyable.

The energy channels we create define much of our experience in physical form. Remaining aligned in our Source Presence keeps us in the creative mode instead of the reactive mode and when we do this, the energy channels we create are positive and productive. But no matter the type of energy channel we create, make no mistake about it, it doesn’t exist without our agreement, so as my mother would say, choose wisely.

~Blessings to all!
