Sunday Runecasting: Invoking Balanced Energy

I draw the runes on Sundays because I need an anchor for the week ahead or an explanation for the week now past. In this year of illumination, we’ve been receiving information that has been not only troubling but oftentimes shocking. But it also feels as if we’re ready for it, for whatever it is that’s revealed. It’s not that we’re numb to these things, but that we’ve become seasoned and we recognize crap when we see it.

In the days ahead, folks will come together to assist one another through the effects of the hurricane. Americans are like that. We naturally want to help people. And the runes today seem to remind us of that fact.

The top two runes are Ingwaz (Inguz) and Gebo, runes that invoke intention and balanced energy exchange. Running downward, Dagaz promises a new day as one energy ends, arriving at its still point, then giving way to something new. Othala finishes out the runecasting by bringing all runic energies or influences together in balance.

But let’s take a closer look at each rune to arrive at a deeper meaning.

An Earth element rune, Ingwaz represents the sudden release of energetic intention. It brings focus and invokes energies within. The rune can also be drawn as two X’s, one above the other, suggesting a strand of DNA or our genetic blueprint. Visually, Ingwaz and Gebo bind together to create Othala, the final rune of the runecasting, bringing in the idea of not only our genetic reality but the Akashic record of our lives. When this rune appears, productive opportunities are available and we possess the desire within to achieve our intended goals. Ingwaz also assists us in overcoming illusion, bringing light and focus to any deception we might be witnessing or experiencing.

Gebo is the rune of balanced energy exchange, both within and with others. The seventh rune of the Elder Futhark, we feel the energy of Dagaz without the feeling of beginnings and endings. As such, Gebo represents the eternal nature of the soul, one in Source Presence, and one with all. Together, Gebo and Ingwaz illustrate the birth of the universe itself, energy expanding suddenly into a balanced energetic system. We become with these two runes.

Dagaz suggests the endings and beginnings of consciousness manifested into form. Our lives are filled with cycles with birth followed by death followed by more birth and death ad infinitum. Something is always ending with something new on the horizon. Which may be where we collectively find ourselves today with all that illumination we’ve been experiencing of late. The opportunities for enlightenment abound when Dagaz appears. We’re experiencing awakening and we are one with all.

Considered the rune of sacred space, Othala maintains the balance between order and chaos and is said to contain all runic energies within its structure. A positive rune, Othala suggests security and prosperity and a unity beyond the traditional family. Othala at minimum represents our ancestral heritage, but in truth, it’s the representation of who we are as All That Is. It’s the gift of Gebo aligned with desire within to express that gift found in Ingwaz.

The patterns that exist with the runes today move us from invoked manifestation to a sense of completion and unity with all. The question remains, will we act upon our awakening to bring about balance and unity or will we continue to see division dominate our interactions? We have a chance this year to pay attention and allow truth to resonate. It’s an eleven year, a Master Number for illumination. Three of the runes, Ingwaz, Dagaz, and Othala comprise the last three runes of the Elder Futhark suggesting completion with Gebo, the seventh rune blending their energies together. But as the seventh rune, Gebo also asks us to stand in observation, allowing things to settle a bit into their natural flow or alignment.

Numerologically, an interesting pattern also emerges. Ingwaz is the 22nd rune so I’ll leave that alone as the Master Builder, but the other three, Dagaz (23/5), Othala (24/6), and Gebo (7) result in a 5, 6, 7 progression, interesting with the Master Builder in play as well. It would also suggest that Othala isn’t the end of the story, but in fact, that aligns with Gebo and balanced energy exchange.

Additionally, the numerology of Ingwaz and Dagaz together becomes 11, again the Master number for illumination while Gebo as a 7 asks us to observe balance.

It’s also interesting that when I do the weekly tarot and rune reading, Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune, over on YouTube, much of that has been in synchronicity with today’s runecasting. The notion of awakening, illumination, and unity with others seems to be gaining intensity over the last couple of months as well, and it feels as if it’s reaching a crescendo of sorts. Time will tell, but the synchronicity is interesting nonetheless.

So, let’s observe more, react less, and see what we see…

Blessed Be
