It’s been a while since I last did a reading with the Wildwood Tarot so I thought I’d use that deck in today’s reading and discussion. I like that non-traditional decks include the author’s perspective along with the more traditional interpretations which in my view tend toward a more patriarchal influence. The Wildwood deck and others with a more pagan feel to them depict elemental influences that resonate with my own witch perspective and I try to consider the author’s interpretation along with my own feelings about each card. I’m also going to include each card separately because the cards are so beautiful and contain such interesting imagery.

Vessels (Cups) and Bows (Wands) are the suits in this reading, with one card present from the Major Arcana, so our emotions and will, (Water and Fire), are influencing today with an emphasis on intuition and inner awareness. Six is the overall numerology but there is an interesting pattern that exists as well. The Mirror, as the twelfth card, has a numerology of three. If we add the Ace of Bows to the Two of Vessels, we also arrive at three which also aligns with today’s numerology. So we’re looking at the energy surrounding mind/body/Spirit alignment today.

We begin with The Mirror, the twelfth card from the Major Arcana, representing the traditional Hanged Man. The Lady of the Lake sits near the water’s edge, holding a crystal orb in her left hand and a mirror in her right, her long tresses illumined by the orb’s silvery glow. A heron stands as guardian to the mystery divined by inner awareness. She is Melusine, both sea creature and serpent, and she sits patiently as a small boat awaits the transport of a soul for healing and transmutation to the Isle of Avalon. The Mirror represents our soul’s journey to awakening and enlightenment. We may have experienced some pain or confusion leading us to seek counsel and wisdom within. As with the traditional Hanged Man, we know that alignment in Spirit brings inner truth and wisdom and The Mirror suggests the same. The orb in her hand illuminates the darkness or shadow side of self allowing for transformation to take hold. When The Mirror appears were to take the inner path to wisdom and awakening.

Moving to the Ace of Bows, we see will catalyzing form as repetitive movement by the bow and arrow kindles the Spark of Life. The bow itself expresses its own sense of beginning as leaves and berries are seen growing from its new form. We live in elemental balance as Air, Fire, Water, and Earth combine to create anew. The branches of the trees create an intricate pattern reflecting the connectedness of our lives, their tips appearing to touch in unison above the arrow. Skill, opportunity, light, instinct, along with standing in our own creative power are among the primary interpretations of the Ace of Bows.

Attraction is the title of the Two of Vessels, an interesting card that links human awareness with instinct. We see a woman adorned with the head of a horse standing in union with a man sporting a stag’s head. Her left arm reaches upward meeting his right while streams of water flow from their opposite hands into two golden chalices on a mossy rock below. A flaming heart falls between them signifying the kindling of love and attraction between the couple and a balance of polarity between self and others.

Water and Fire are present in both the Ace and the Two whether it’s in the verdant green scene of the Ace of Bows or as experienced by the flaming heart in the Two of Vessels. It demonstrates the interplay between desire and emotions and the willingness to give our heart to something or someone greater than ourselves. It’s an expression of polarity, changing yet ever-balanced. Together, the 2 and 1 add to 3, representing reflection found in The Mirror. We align mind, body, and Spirit together to create, to explore, to give, to receive. We do so to align with the greater unified presence of Self, of All That Is, where all wisdom resides.

I love synchronicity. I’ve been experiencing a bunch during the Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune readings I’m doing over on Youtube. I post them on the left side of the blog or you can go over to the channel and watch them there, but the cards and runes seem to be aligned well with the day’s numerology which brings an additional energetic influence to whatever message the cards and runes give.

And in this year of illumination, we can use all the assistance we can get!

Blessings!
