Beginnings and Balance

I have a variety of Tarot decks. The one above is the Morgan-Green Tarot deck. I haven’t used that one in a while and with the energies of the Full Moon still active, I thought I would see what it had to say. I actually stayed up all night and took pictures of the eclipse in the early morning hours, and then drew down the moon around midnight. The energy was exhilarating!

The Morgan-Green deck is smaller than the DruidCraft Tarot deck I’ve been using the last couple of days, therefore much easier to shuffle. After shuffling the deck numerous times, this is what came up. The foundation is comprised of the first three cards of the Major Arcana, hence the first part of the title, Beginnings. Above the foundation sits the significator as the guiding principle. It’s rare that I ever draw three Trump cards, let alone in an order like this one. The Full Moon was in Libra, bringing energies of harmony, justice and balance to our lives. This spread would suggest that we use that as a guiding principle as one chapter closes and a new one begins.

On the Tree of Life, the Fool and the Magician sit above in the Celestial Triangle, while the High Priestess represents the Goddess in Her Maiden aspect, as she descends into the abyss, joining the Crown, or 1st Sephirah in the Celestial Triangle with the 6th Sephirah of Beauty. The foundation of this spread illustrates the primordial forces at play when we focus into physical form.

The coolest part of the spread is the direct connection of the High Priestess to the Six of Pentacles. Each element is expressed at each point, i.e, Six of Pentacles, Swords, Wands, and Cups. The Six brings Beauty into balance, as the High Priestess connects our Higher Self with our physical presence. The four cards form the shape of the rune, Tiwaz or Tyr, representing justice, discipline and faith in their alignment on the Tree of Life.

As in this spread, the Tarot itself begins with the Fool, an expression of physical form from nonphysical formlessness. All other cards in the Tarot flow from and influence his manifestation. He suggests innocence and adventure, courageously taking that leap of faith as he creates new beginnings.

The Magician embodies both God and Goddess energies. With the High Priestess as his correspondent, he expresses balanced projective and receptive energy. I prefer the terms projective/receptive instead of masculine/feminine when describing the quality of energy, the latter feeling too specific or definitive. Divine energy flows above and below, within and without the Magus, a conduit between Heaven and Earth. Deity correspondences include Hermes, Thoth and Mercury, fostering confidence and strength of divine will.

In the final position sits The High Priestess expressing divine feminine energy as the Goddess in Her Maiden aspect. She represents stillness and neutrality, allowing her intuition to guide her actions. She is the counterpart to the Magician, or Magus and her focus is lunar magick particularly in its waxing phase.

An interesting flow here..the Fool makes the journey into physical form, progressing further as he anchors himself as the Magus, a conduit between realms, progressing again further as that initiating energy of creation moves through the Goddess in her Maiden aspect, the High Priestess into physical form.

Full moons and eclipses bring new beginnings or something in progress to fruition. The Fool shows us that at each moment we can begin again. We can choose a more creative path. We can align with our Source within and move in a positive direction, in the present moment, our creativity unhindered.

The Six of Pentacles sits atop the spread as significator. In this spread, I felt it was a guiding principle because it represents balanced energy flow. Each of us exists as a blessed conduit, the physical expression of as above, so below, as individuated expressions of Source Energy. Harmony and non-resistance are key to alignment, and the Six of Pentacles provides that influence.

If we proceed forward at every moment, aware of who we really are as extensions of Source, expressing ourselves with divine dignity, we begin to create our lives reflecting the balance expressed in the Six of Pentacles. Of course the influence a a Full Pink/Blood Eclipsing Moon in Libra doesn’t hurt either!

Well, that was cool.

~Blessed Be the Full Pink Moon, her lovely dance with the Sun, and the creative, balanced, loving energy she leaves with us all!
