For Tuesday Tarot, I’m using the non-traditional Haindl deck for the reading because I like how Haindl incorporates other divination forms on the cards including runes, Hebrew and astrological glyphs, and hexagrams (guas) from the I Ching.

Today’s reading takes a decidedly feminine beginning with The Star and The Princess of Wands comprising two-thirds of the spread, both preceding the 5 of Stones, which Haindl titles Material Difficulty. Fire and Earth are represented as is Spirit infusing Mother Earth as the Goddess in The Star washes her hair with the waters of Spirit with purification is the result.

Her essence reflects an ancient presence and appears to blend with the earth and rocks around her, the connection with Spirit established by the inclusion of the rune, Eihwaz, depicting the as above so below relationship between Spirit and form.

Radha, representing the Princess of Wands, in a sense, depicts the Goddess in her Maiden aspect as she plays her flute, her music representing the spark of creation and the fire of humanity’s existence. She is known for her compassion and devotion, not only to Krishna but also to creation itself, and she represents the genesis of spirituality and is transformative in her service to others.

Finally, we come to the 5 of Stones (Pentacles in traditional decks) and the material difficulty it describes. Rather than becoming swept up in the fires of creation as with Radha, here we encounter the difficulty of form. The card’s five numerology indicates change or perhaps protection, but at minimum, we see five rocks in disarray, in both size and position.

A lack of surety is experienced with the 5 of Stones as if nothing is in order. The 23rd hexagram from the I Ching may provide a clue to the change that’s afoot. Splitting Apart is it’s title which describes the route we take from a self-centered view to one that turns away from intolerance and embraces diversity with others.

In truth, the reading reflects a return to Goddess presence, where a sense of duty is felt to others. This Ancient Presence returns in the form of the Star where hopes and wishes are realized by the fundamental return to unity consciousness, to that tribal sense that brings into focus a new beginning based upon love and harmony with the earth and with each other.

And in a sense, Mother Earth renews in the undeveloped potential of Radha, the Daughter of Wands in the East, representing the Princess of Wands. She is the spark of life, of undeveloped potential within each one of us to transform and seek a new path forward.

And given what we’ve all been experiencing of late, a new path forward is exactly what we need.

Blessings to all!
