I love the Hawthorn tree. Widely known for its association with faeries and witches, it grows everywhere on my property, originating at my husband’s childhood home. Once planted, they come up everywhere, blooming every Spring. Hawthorn may be used to make wands, and it’s almost better to leave the bark on the branch because its texture is so beautiful when spayed with finish.

Hawthorn branches also make lovely runes. They feel light to the touch when drawing them from the bag, and I think they’re my favorite set. They’re the set used in today’s runecasting.

The runecasting begins on the horizontal axis with Wunjo, Uruz and Kenaz depicting influences from the physical realm. In the center, Uruz represents the archetypal pattern of creation, the significator or focus of the runecasting. Wunjo suggests happiness, peace and fellowship, while Kenaz, with its transformative influence opens our awareness to enlightenment.

Ansuz and Thurisaz create the nonphysical axis with Uruz, with Ansuz bringing our intellectual creative force into play, and Thursaz providing the catalyst necessary to initiate change.

So far, the creative force is ever changing..resonating with enlightenment and awakening.

On the left side of the X axis, receptive influences surrounding Uruz blend the stillness and coalescence of Isa with the self-discipline and order of Tiwaz. Isa develops inner will and strengthens our alignment with Source, assisting us as we focus into form, while remaining our bridge to consciousness. Tiwaz sustains the spiritual warrior within.

Finally, on the right angle of the X, representing projective influences, Dagaz and Gebo provide Uruz’s manifesting power with the intention of balanced energy exchange. Gebo begins that process, balancing our relationships with others as well as assisting us with our own inner balance, creating a link between realms. Dagaz completes that energy exchange, signaling the completion of one phase and the beginning of a new one. It represents complete enlightenment or awakening, fulfillment..of our time in physical form, or perhaps only the fulfillment of a particular stage in life.

Either way, the progressive flow of energy is evident throughout the runecasting. All paths lead to enlightenment, to the awakened state we all seek. But it’s not necessary to seek what’s already present. All that’s necessary is that we allow that flow of Source Energy to move freely within, around and through us. It’s not without, it’s within..always and forever.

As above, so below. Many blessings on this Full Hawthorne Moon as we create our future as One.

~Blessed be
