Today’s runes suggest that our worst impulses surrounding our interactions with others can be controlled by drawing inspiration from Spirit. Intone Algiz to support this process.
Elementally, I view Algiz with Air, Fire, and Water at the top with Earth at the bottom of the rune suggesting that we draw down energy that balances intellect, will, and emotions and invoke that into our earthly presence and interactions with others. The antlers of the elk are depicted visually by Algiz as is raising our arms in supplication to Spirit. Algiz represents the bridge between the astral realm and physical reality, higher consciousness, and the divinity within.
Thurisaz, Thor’s rune, describes defense against impulsiveness, new beginnings, giants, and chaos. It assists higher awareness on the physical plane to help control ego-based reactions and challenges that seem insurmountable. Gebo, the gift of reciprocity and balanced energy exchange, promotes harmonious interactions with others.
So, it would appear that both Gebo and Thurisaz invoke their presence after we draw down higher awareness with Algiz. An again, all runes include the influence of Kenaz (ᚲ), or the light of Spirit within their structure.
