Rune Divination ~ Realignment

Using a four rune elemental layout, I’m placing the runes in the order of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Elemental Earth represents the material side of life: our family, home, tradition, work, community/society, possessions, birth, and death. Air involves the expression of intellect, communication, balance, justice, truth, and knowledge. Fire signifies the will, creativity, passion, manifestation, sexuality, and energy. And Water involves our emotions, compassion, empathy, love, momentum, healing, divination, and change.

The runes for this week are described below:

  • Earth ~ Wunjo ᚹ
  • Air ~ Uruz ᚢ
  • Fire ~ Fehu ᚠ
  • Water ~ Jera ᛃ

This week’s reading aligns well with Imbolc given that it’s a time to share fellowship and joy with family and friends and to manifest new beginnings as Spring approaches.

Wunjo, also known as the wish rune, is placed in the position of Elemental Earth which reflects an interesting synchronicity given that Wunjo is considered to be an Earth element rune. And in this position, Wunjo reinforces the expression of joy and fellowship with others in our lives. In fact, progress over the coming week may rely on maintaining peace and harmony so that we enhance the prospect of happiness and success. Or, Wunjo could be telling us that a secure foundation is predicated on harmony with others. Either way, this is a week to remain open to healing past conflict or division so that a brighter future is possible.

Uruz during this period suggests both a realignment of our perceptions as well as healing the self and extending that same healing into our relationships with others. Shaped like the aurochs, Uruz, a rune governed by the Water element, implies strength and the ability to shape our experiences from a higher perspective. In the position of Elemental Air, this reinforces the realignment or rebalancing of intellect with the emotional impact the Water element has on its governance of Uruz.

Aligning elementally with its position of Elemental Fire in the reading, Fehu suggests transaction, or in this case, how we interact with others in a manner that increases our own life force. It represents cattle and wealth that is moveable (transactional), and it implies integration with others in a manner that benefits all. As a rune governed by the Fire element, Fehu acts as a sending rune in magickal workings, and you can chant Fehu to cast this divination into your higher awareness so that you offer blessings of a new day to all.

Finally, Jera, governed by the Earth Element, is placed in the position of Water suggesting change that is cyclical or unfolding could be in order. Jera, or year, reflects transformation, balance, give and take, and cycles. It’s used to invoke fertility of all kinds as well as growth in the garden and represents unfolding awareness and energetic alignment within and without.

Fundamentally, the week may bring a new focus on releasing old perceptions or paradigms so that healing our relationships with others can take place. It suggests our security is found in alignment with those we love, and that we possess the ability to shape our reality in a manner that reflects love and harmony in our own life and in the lives of others. Jera suggests that this awareness is unfolding, so this week may represent the beginning of a process that will ultimately lead to greater fulfillment in our lives.

Imbolc Blessings to all!
