Berkano and Puer were today’s significator runes. On the As Above side of the equation, Berkano, the 18th rune from the Elder Futhark, is an Earth element rune that describes the birch tree, birth, new beginnings, healing, growth, family, protection, and bringing something to fruition. On the So Below side of things, Puer describes scattered little boy energy, or a lack of impulse control. Together, it suggests a lack of impulse control could impact a particular situation that’s playing out.

Today’s cards initially were the 3 of Swords, 8 of Swords, and the 10 of Cups. Ultimately, I drew The Chariot and the Queen of Pentacles to provide more information. Initially, the overall numerology of the reading was 3, but with the Chariot (7) the reading’s overall numerology is one, or new beginnings which aligns with Berkano.

Beginning with the 3 of Swords, we see three swords piercing a red heart with rain pouring down from clouds above. The 3 of Swords represents a betrayal of trust. It can describe a love triangle, or a betrayal from friends or, if it’s happening in a work situation, from co-workers, or from any other type of relationship you might have that has resulted in others stabbing you in the back or betraying you in some manner. The 3 of Swords would then align well with the lack of impulse control described by the geomancy rune, Puer.

Next, we have the 8 of Swords where we see a woman in a red dress bound and blindfolded. She stands barefooted in some wet sand surrounded by eight swords. Typically, I would read this card as turning off the noise, even her own perceptions, to get a better perspective. Or it could be read as she’s bound by her own perceptions. However, when pared with the 3 of Swords, it’s clear that this is a difficult and significant situation that’s occurred, and with a combined numerology of eleven, it suggests a Master number energy of awakening, illumination and enlightenment. This also aligns with today’s 11 numerology (29/11) so it really appears that a betrayal has happened that you now need to understand from a higher perspective. She has to let go of any preconceived notions or perceptions and go within to find that higher meaning so that she can make the best decision for herself. The eight numerology of the card can also indicate material recognition and approval which might narrow down the betrayal to a work situation where co-workers may be trying to take credit from something that you’ve actually created.

I took an additional card to provide more clarity before I read the 10 of Cups and I drew The Chariot. Card 7 from the Major Arcana, The Chariot represents balance and knowing when to take control and when to step back. Healing is also part of The Chariot described by the upright dreidel and the winged disc above it. So I think the card adds a higher self component to the woman on the 8 of Swords going within to find some level of emotional balance. The Chariot also describes letting things settle before coming to any conclusions, which can also be beneficial to dealing with the betrayal that’s been experienced.

Since there seemed to still be a step missing in the reading that takes us to the 10 of Cups, I took another card, The Queen of Pentacles, to further define what may be important to consider. The Queen of Pentacles is an older woman in authority who is surrounded by abundance. She’s kind, generous, and essentially describes the Earth Mother energy experienced in Berkano. Here it suggests that asserting your own authority as well as your peace of mind are important factors in how you see the betrayal and the decision you make about it.

From there, the 10 of Cups illustrates a family who appear to have achieved happiness and emotional fulfillment. A home is on a hill beyond a dark line of demarcation that separates the situation into two sections. The kids are dancing while the mother and father raise their arms to welcome their new life. Ten cups are arranged in an arched fashion against a rainbow, suggesting that they’ve achieved their success and happiness and it’s now time to walk through a new doorway into a new phase of life. This aligns well with Berkano and the idea of bringing something to fruition or completion.

To sum up then, a betrayal has occurred and now you need to go within to see the situation from a balanced, higher perspective. But before a decision is made, it’s wise to let your emotions settle to really define what it is that you want, and in this case, asserting your own authority and control to gain the peace of mind that you deserve is important. And it’s certainly more important than any drama others wish to cause. After, that, it appears that you may embark upon a new path where you feel emotionally fulfilled.
