Significator Runes: Nauthiz (Norn rune of the future, friction within to manifest something new and positive), Rubeus (evil influence, a misuse of force, self-possessed)

Cards: 5 of Cups (5, Water, Minor Arcana), 2 of Wands (2, Fire, Minor Arcana), 6 of Swords (6, Air, Minor Arcana)

Overall numerology: 5, 2, 6 – since there is a Master 11 numerology between the 5 and 6, that leaves the 2 on its own. So, it looks like a decision needs to be made that involves a more awakened attitude.

Looking at the runes, Nauthiz describes the inner motivation to manifest positive change in your life, while Rubeus describes a misuse of force. So either you are dealing with a situation and someone who is causing you some grief and you’re trying to figure out a way around that situation, or it’s you who is causing your own grief and a higher perspective is needed to invoke positive change in your life.

Beginning with the 5 of Cups, we see a man in a black cape, standing on the other side of a creek with his home on the other side. Five cups are present, three are overturned with their contents spilled on the ground in front of him while two more stand upright behind him. His head is bowed in grief or loss. Given the five numerology, something significant has changed in his life leaving him feeling disappointed, upset, or emotionally insecure. The two cups still upright represent the emotional strength he still has, yet because he’s not looking at them, he can’t feel that strength within.

Next, the 2 of Wands illustrates a merchant standing on top of a bridge or building and looking out over the bay. One staff is affixed to the wall while he holds another in his left hand, creating a window or doorway of sorts. He holds a globe in his right hand, and between the doorway and the globe, he’s making a decision about his future where all options are available to him. The lilies and roses on the bridge indicate new beginnings. The small leaves or branches still growing on the staffs are getting that energy from a higher creative force. The numerology of two reinforces his decision-making process.

At this point, it appears that although significant changes have happened in the man’s life, he’s garnered his inner strength to pursue a more positive direction.

Lastly, the 6 of Swords shows a family taking a journey over water in the winter. We see the man ferrying his wife and child across an icy lake with six swords standing upright in the front of the boat. Swords reflects the Air element and the intellect, reason, justice, balance, deception, and truth, and I typically interpret this card as the journey we take to shift our perceptions into something more positive. There is an emotional component to this card, however, and with the lake frozen over, it appears that the emotions that might have predicated this move by the family have given way to a more rational approach which is guiding them forward.

Summary

Referring to the overall numerology of 11 and 2, as well as the runes Nauthiz and Rubeus, it appears that the man in the 5 of Cups has either had something happen to him or it’s something that he’s caused himself and now he doesn’t know what to do. But eventually, in the 2 of Wands, he’s realized that he has to gather his inner strength to manifest something new, and with this particular card, all options are available to him and he’s ready to make a decision about his future. With the 11 Master numerology, as well as Nauthiz, it suggests higher awareness is now guiding his hand and decisions.

When the decision is made, the 6 of Swords either suggests that he needs to relocate his family to another area, or it signifies a major shift in perception that is more rational and realistic, at least in terms of his (and his family’s) future.

So, if this resonates for you, it could be that either an external situation has forced you to reconsider your choices, or, more likely, it’s your own behavior that has prevented you from feeling emotionally secure. If so, a decision needs to be made, and with both Nauthiz and the 11 numerology contained within the reading, it suggests you need to let go of the ego’s control and allow higher awareness to govern your decisions and behavior. The end result could indicate either a shift in perception to one that is more inclusive and rational, or it could also indicate a move is in your future.
