Reading Notes:

Significator Runes: Mannaz (20th rune, man, humanity, individual within society, integration, mind/body/Spirit connection, thought rune, collective memory) and Fortuna Minor (lesser fortune, progressive success, outer assistance)

Cards: 9 of Wands (9, Fire, Minor Arcana), 2 of Swords (2, Air, Minor Arcana), and the Queen of Wands (Fire, Court) with a run on Wands and the Fire element suggesting will is a factor in the reading.

Overall numerology: 20+9+2=2+9+2=13=4 (structure, foundation, pragmatism, grounding, reliability, self-discipline, hard work, order, assistance)

Beginning with the significator runes, Mannaz, on the above or higher self side, describes how you integrate with others from a higher perspective. As the 20th rune from the Elder Futhark, its numerology is two reinforcing the idea of balance and collaboration or integration with others. Today’s geomancy rune, Fortuna Minor, the below or ego side of the equation, describes outer assistance and progressive success.

Moving on to the cards, the 9 of Wands illustrates a man holding a staff with both hands out in front of himself. His head is bandaged suggesting that he has been through some kind of conflict or battle, and with Wands representing the Fire element, it could have been a battle of wills. However, with the card’s nine numerology, it suggests that the battle is over. He’s looking back to eight other staffs behind him with a suspicious look on his face. A dual line separates him from the staffs suggesting that he was out on his own, but now he may realize that there were in fact others who support him.

Next, the 2 of Swords illustrates a woman sitting on a stone bench with her back against the water. She’s blindfolded, her arms are crossed in front of her with a sword in each hand. The ocean is behind her and the water isn’t exactly smooth, signaling emotions are still a factor. The 2 of Swords indicates a decision needs to be made, and given that she’s turned her back to the water, it suggests that she’s trying to leave emotions out of the decision she needs to make.

At this point, it’s clear that the man in the 9 of Wands has been through something where he believed he was alone, but now realizes he had more support than he thought he did. This could apply to any group situation or more specifically to a work situation where you’ve asserted your position to someone in authority and then you find out later that other co-workers are in agreement but weren’t there at the time to support you. So, with the 2 of Swords, you now have to make a decision without your emotions influencing your perception, that may lead to a collaborative effort with others who support your position. And as Fortuna Minor implies, it’s not necessarily the end of the conflict, but a small victory in a greater process.

Finally, the Queen of Wands shows a woman in authority sitting on her throne, a sunflower in her left hand and a staff in her right. Her cat looks directly at the reader or querent as if to say, what now? Three pyramids suggesting higher awareness or spirituality appear on the lower left side of the card, and lion energy is present on the card suggesting the expression of inner strength. The Court cards either represent the person on the card or the qualities they possess, and with the Queen of Wands, it’s either suggesting this is the authority figure to whom you’ve made your case, or a woman with more experience to whom you can consult, or more likely, it describes the need to express your own authority in an empowered and dignified manner.

Summation

You’ve asserted yourself in a situation that left you feeling somewhat battered and you did so alone. But when the battle was over, you realize that, in fact, you have more support than you knew. You might have some resentment about that, but in the end, you have to make the decision to let go of those feelings and collaborate with the people in support. And it’s possible that the people who support you needed you to be the catalyst and, after seeing you assert yourself, they find it easier to say what they need to say. This is just the first phase of the situation, however, and it may take several attempts by you and others who support you to reinforce that shared position and present a united front so that you arrive at a final outcome that is successful.
