Reading Notes:

Significator Runes: Dagaz (23rd rune, new day, endings/beginnings, balance, daylight, on the precipice of something new) and Tristitia (sorrow, grief, condemnation, can’t let go)

Cards: Death (13, Major Arcana), 8 of Swords (8, Air, Minor Arcana), and Strength (8, Major Arcana)

Numerology: Overall with the rune: 7 (balance, observation); Cards only: 11 (Master number for awakening and enlightenment); also the day’s numerology of 2.

Patterns: two cards from the Major Arcana, two cards with an 8 numerology, the Death card is 13 which reduces to 4 which is half of eight. If you turn Dagaz on its side and round the corners, it looks like the number 8. And if you merge the two triangles together, it becomes a Merkaba or soul vehicle, or the merging of the soul with the body.

Oracle Card: Pachamama: Reciprocity – Pachamama is the Earth Mother who reminds us as humans that we’re made of the same stuff as the earth and that we’re all aligned with the earth’s resonance. Reciprocity in this case involves the reciprocity we feel to the earth. It also involves the reciprocity we feel to other humans on the earth. This card also aligns well with the day’s numerology of two and its own expression of reciprocity.

(From the Wild and Sacred Feminine Deck)

Beginning with today’s significator runes, Dagaz, the 23rd rune from the Elder Futhark, suggests a new day is dawning. You’re ready for one phase to end and a new one to begin. It’s the energy of letting go and moving forward, and it also suggests awakening to new perceptions or experiences. Tristitia, today’s geomancy rune, describes intense sorrow or grief. It also expresses condemnation, but essentially it suggests being stuck in emotions and the inability to move on. Dagaz, on the other hand, suggests that the time is right to let go of that sorrow or grief and to put it all into perspective and embrace life once again.

Next, moving to the cards, Death appears first with a 13 (4) numerology. Death is a card of transition in the same manner as today’s rune Dagaz. We see Death ride through on his white horse carrying a black flag with a white rose in its center. If you look closely at the pattern in the rose, we see an inverted pentagram with the tip pointed downward into physical reality. We see the sun rising between two towers expressing its own Dagaz energy there. The King is dead on the ground, with the Queen bereft, a child next to her, and the Priest is giving last rights. One phase is ending and the light is returning. Death reinforces Dagaz and that you’re experiencing a moment of transition and then Tristitia where you can now let go of emotions or perceptions that no longer serve you and you can awaken to something new.

Moving on to the 8 of Swords, we see a woman blindfolded and bound as she’s surrounded by eight swords. A castle appears on the cliffs in the distance. She stands in wet sand as if the emotions she’s feeling are lessening and she’s ready to turn off the noise around her as well as her own thoughts so that she can go within to find new meaning to what’s she’s experiencing. In other words, she turns off all the negative voices or influences around her as well as her own negative self-talk that keeps her stuck (Tristitia) and unable to move forward. So, in relation to today’s runes, she’s ready to let go of a Tristitia experience and embrace a new mindset (Dagaz).

One note before we look at the last card, if we turn Dagaz on its side, and smooth the corners, we actually have the number 8 as well as two triangles, if merged together, becomes the Merkaba or the infusion of the soul into physical reality.

Lastly, Strength, card 8 from the Major Arcana, shows a woman wearing a garland of flowers in her hair and as a belt around her waist as she holds the head of a lion lovingly in her hands. Abundance surrounds her with a mountain in the distance. Strength involves taming the wild within, and in the case of this reading, that involves letting go of perceptions and emotions that are preventing you from staying in or focusing on the present moment. With Tristitia, you’re unable to move past emotions that are upsetting. Strength would suggest, as would Dagaz, that the time and energy are right to do just that. A lemniscate (figure 8 pattern) appears above the woman’s head, and again, if you turn that on its side, we see the number eight. And if you refer to the above note, we can do the same with Dagaz, so this implies that you have the strength necessary to move past an experience that has kept you emotionally stuck so that you can embrace something new.

SUMMATION

The energy is there today to reexamine a situation from a new perspective, without the influence of others or your own persisting perceptions, and then use the inner strength you possess to move on, take charge what you feel, and embrace something new.
