Endings and Beginnings

With the new moon on Friday, I wanted to look at the runic influences of endings and beginnings, and I decided to use my lapis set for the runecasting. Lapis lazuli activates the higher mind and assists in spirit communication. I love how they feel in my hands and I use this set along with one made from moonstone as my primary crystal rune sets, although I do prefer wooden runes to stone.

A layout may be used, or simply drawing runes from the bag and reading them in order is acceptable as well. I use this method when I’m looking at more generalized influences. It’s also useful if I want to move in a what’s next order regarding a specific issue.

Reading from left to right, Isa begins the runecasting in stillness. It’s been an eventful moon cycle filled with holiday and vacation activities. Isa suggests that it’s time to reflect and meditate. Depicting the static realm of Verdandi, one of the three Norns of Fate, Isa teaches us the value of stillness and focus to bring clarity and vision. Isa is our concentrated will to block unwanted forces, and I use it often in rune magick.

Jera follows as a rune of transformation and balance, our unfolding spiritual awareness. It speeds growth, brings events to pass, and aligns relationship energy. Wunjo, the rune of harmony, follows in support, reflecting a partnership filled with joy and contentment. Perhaps a relationship is evolving or improving as a result of increased spiritual awareness and balance.

Sacrifice and justice is represented by Tiwaz. Confidence and self-discipline are favored with this rune of Tyr, the warrior god and upholder of honor and faith. The sacred promises we make to others are reflected in Tiwaz. Sowilo ends the runecasting as the rune of the Higher Self. Its power strengthens the entire runecasting with its catalytic energy. Sowilo illuminates our way forward.

We began the runecasting with Isa, an expression of our inner will, and ended with Sowilo, a more catalytic expression. The flow of energy is apparent, from stillness to power. Relationships are favored, fostered by an ability to see beyond self-interest. Stillness brings clarity followed by transformation. We consider the possibility of and anything can happen from there. Through self-discipline and confidence, we create with faith and integrity, emitting our own light, illuminating our own way forward.

Ooh..so this one was cool!

~Blessed be the runes!

One Last Reminder About RePosting of My Work

If anyone intends to either quote something I've written, or intends to post any part of my work, including my videos, on any other site, please ask permission before doing so. Any reposting of my work without permission can be considered as copyright infringement, so please ask. And if I give permission, you MUST clearly reference my name as author and my website. No exceptions. The words an author writes are sacred. Unapproved use is not.

Thank you... Jan Erickson
