Spread the love

I’ve been using the DruidCraft Tarot for some time and I love the way the creators of the cards blend witchcraft with Druidism. It has an old world feel to it that I like as well. I’ve always been reluctant to identify with any sort of path, but my recently discovered heritage includes both witchcraft and Druidism, so I can’t help but feel its influence. I have always gravitated towards stewardship of the land without ever knowing about my roots, and I’ve always known I’m a witch, so finding the DruidCraft tarot resonated so much.

A connection with the earth is something a witch feels deep within her and this tarot deck speaks to that feeling. I chose for today’s reading an as above, so below spread with the upper three cards representing nonphysical presence or influence and the lower three cards representing our physical presence or influence. From the top and moving deocil, the spread begins with the Ace of Swords, followed Justice, the 9 of Pentacles, the Prince of Wands, the 5 of Cups, and ending with The High Priestess. So we have two cards from the Major Arcana, one Court card, an Ace, with three cards representing Air (Swords), Water (Cups), and Earth (Pentacles).

I like this spread because it tells us what our focus should be and either what challenges we face and/or how we’ve resolved those challenges. Beginning with the Ace of Swords, the overall theme of the spread deals with the manifestation of new ideas into form. Swords represents our intellectual presence in the world, and the Ace represents new beginnings. In this card, a hand holding a sword emerges from the water, pointing straight up to the sky. It suggests balanced thought or reason and tells us to align with our Source Presence. The clouds of illusion above are giving way to clarity as the sun rises on the horizon and anything is possible.

The High Priestess and Justice are both cards from the Major Arcana. The High Priestess represents our dreams, our intuition, and the unconscious realm. Her power comes from within, in balance with Goddess or Source Presence. She stands with arms raised in supplication to the Moon, her grimoire before her on the altar as she draws down Goddess blessings. She is the Divine Feminine. With this card, we know that our answers are found within.

A woman sits holding a sword in her right hand and scales in her left, balancing projective energies with receptive energies. An owl sits at her side representing wisdom. The card of Justice illustrates fairness based on wise choices. Our actions have consequences as illustrated by the testes at the bottom of the sword. Decisions that we make must be judicious and based on integrity and honor so that they don’t unfairly impact others, and any new endeavors should reflect that same commitment.

On the level of physical presence, we have the 5 of Cups, the Prince of Swords, and the 9 of Pentacles. The 5 of Cups shows a hooded, robed man looking out at the water at a fish as it’s jumping away from a predator. Three cups are overturned with two remaining on the altar behind him. This card signifies the perception of loss, emotional in nature. His back is turned to the two remaining cups, his focus now on something new. Perhaps his sense of loss is too great and it’s time to move in a new direction.

Moving to the Prince of Wands, we have a young man, gallantly riding his horse, wand extended, embracing a new adventure. Princes are active. They journey about, sometimes on behalf of others, and sometimes on behalf of themselves. This Prince eagerly meets challenges with passion and enthusiasm, at times with a lack of follow through. In other words, he can’t always be bothered with details.

The 9 of Pentacles shows a woman of stature holding a falcon in her right hand, her left resting on a branch. Pentacles represents our physical presence in the world as well as wealth and prosperity. Clearly this woman has the presence of wealth about her. She enjoys the success her life has given her.

Just as the upper cards tell us what our focus should be, the lower cards indicate our challenges and direction. In this spread, we have a man who perhaps has decided to move past emotional issues and begin anew. He knows he must balance wisdom with passion so that his endeavors are both honorable and successful. His inner voice guides his way forward, aligning with Source Presence, as he wisely chooses his course.

The numerology of the cards gives us 2, 1, and 11 with the upper cards and 5 and 9 with the lower cards. 11 is a master number so we typically leave that one alone. Adding 2 and 1 gives us 3, a catalytic number for creativity. 11 is the master number for illumination. 5 and 9 reduce to 14 and from there 5. The Court cards aren’t usually considered, but if they were, the Prince would be a 12, which would reduce to 3. Combining 3 with 5 gives us 8 or a practical influence in physical matters. If we don’t consider the Prince (which considering his issues with follow through might be warranted) then we have a 5 which suggests change. It’s also the number for the pentagram.

But here’s the thing about the pentagram. Pointed upward it represents Spirit controlling matter; while pointed downward it simply means that we have too much focus on matters of physical form and we’ve lost or forgotten our reality as Source Energy. The world does not control us unless we let it. We are Source Energy focused into physical form. We never stop being that, and if we begin everything we do from that awareness, things tend to turn out better than if we don’t. And even if they don’t, we can still choose our reactions.

When we combine the numerology of the upper and lower levels of the spread together (3 and 8), using the Prince as well, we arrive again at 11, the master number for illumination. So aligning with that inner voice at all times gives us the best option for success. And then if you combined the 11 from the upper grouping which I purposely left out because it was a master number with the 11 we arrived at, we’d have 22, the Master Builder number.

As Source Energy, we drive the experience we have in the body. We have far more control over our lives than we believe we do. Our inner voice tells us everything we need to know so it’s critical that we listen. We know when something feels off, or doesn’t feel quite right. It’s not just empaths or psychics who know this. We all know. It’s who we are. Abundance is ours, always. Our willingness to try new things, and the passion we feel to make them happen, if aligned in Source Presence and letting that voice within guide us, can result in success and happiness. If this spread shows us anything, it shows us that.

As our ideas manifests into new endeavors, we listen to our inner voice, balanced and wise as we push on, letting our passion fuel that new project or endeavor, resulting in goals achieved and an abundant life. And when a new idea is supported by a couple of master numbers, you can’t go wrong!

Blessed Be
