A couple looks out through an arched window. The 10 of Pentacles indicates the couple’s legacy, wealth and prosperity gained over a lifetime lived. The crossed flags behind them reflect stability, their partnership strong and enduring, with the five pentacles on each suggesting an equilibrium or balance felt between the partners.

Dagaz, the last rune of the Elder Futhark (although some practitioners place Othala at the end), brings the influence of endings and beginnings to today’s reading. All doors to enlightenment are open to us at this time, as we stand in the center of Dagaz surrounded by clarity and purpose.

The numerology is 10 and 24 which reduces to 7, the number of magick and divinity. And it’s interesting that the number 7 resembles Dagaz, seven numbers with the center number balanced by three on each side. The crossed flags from the 10 of Pentacles also visually represents Dagaz, a synchronicity we should pay close attention to.

As the couple is moving into a new phase of life, retirement perhaps, the influence of their legacy is felt. But with enlightenment present throughout the reading, I wonder if the legacy has less to do with material gain and more to do with awareness and truth. Dagaz awakens the collective consciousness within each one of us. We are at one with the universe, with our Source Presence. And we need to decide what legacy we leave for others.

Will our legacy be one of division or healing? Will the vitriol end and when it does, will there be anything of us left? An emergence is felt with Dagaz and supported by the 10 of Pentacles. We’ve gone as far as we can and the pressure to begin anew is now felt, an urgency even. With Dagaz, we stand on the precipice of something new. Will we emerge into the light, or into the darkness? Whichever we choose will leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Do we let oil companies continue to threaten the aquifer with endless pipeline projects? Do we let the progress made toward fair pay and an actual living minimum wage fall by the wayside? Do we let those citizens who finally have protection from health insurance companies ripping them off go back to experiencing that? Must seniors once again have to choose between food and medicine?

Do women have to fear a president who thinks nothing of grabbing them by the pussy (his term) as well as how his policies will no doubt put them at risk for more misogyny? What dignity have we shown our children by electing such a bully, such a monster? How will we explain all of this to them when it’s all said and done?

And do we want the knowledge that less than a quarter of us elected someone who will do nothing but make a fortune off of the American people, his legacy of growth and opportunity for himself alone?

Instead we have what we have and to date, no one really knows what any of that means. But what’s unfolding before us will surely create a legacy built upon hate. There’s no other possible outcome.

Barring recounts and electoral integrity, we may have to endure this for the foreseeable future. But the travesty will end and with luck we’ll be able to pick up the pieces of whatever’s left and begin again, this time with the clear understanding of what this man’s legacy hath wrought.

Blessings to our One Family.
