I love the line from the I Ching, the taming power of the small. It reminds me of how the smallest focus or effect can yield great results. The hexagram on the 9 of Stones corresponds with the ninth gua from the I Ching with its meaning Wind and Heaven. From The Complete I Ching, we know that “The structure of the gua is Wind above, Heaven below”

Gua 9Further explanation tells us:

This gua employs “Clouds condense, yet no rain” as an image to express the situation when the accumulation of one’s latent energy and strength is not enough. A little break is required. It is not the time for one to carry out his purpose. During the process of development, progress frequently comes to a standstill. There might be a little obstruction owing to one’s lack of experience or insufficiency of strength. In this situation, one should store up energy, preparing for the next move. The main teaching of the gua is to be sincere and truthful. This is the key to nurturing the multitude with little.²

The 9 of Stones in the Haindl deck, Coins, Disks, and Pentacles in others, gives the feel of suspension as it depicts 9 stones seemingly suspended in mid-air. Nine is the number for completion, so we’ve evidently come to some conclusion or ending and we await a new catalyst. The gua seems to suggest that even the smallest catalyst can achieve great results.

Sowilo, the rune of will from the Elder Futhark, also represents the Sun, catalytic in its own right. Healing, self-confidence, success, and strength are all felt with Sowilo’s influence. Providing growth and opportunity, Sowilo guides and strengthens our will. Aligned with the 9th gua from the I Ching, we learn that we fulfill our potential by our detailed attention and focus to new ideas and experiences. Its numerology is 7, or divinity and magick, reducing from 16 as the 16th rune of the Elder Futhark.

The final numerology combines 7 with 9, arriving at 16, again reducing to 7 or divinity, reinforcing the potential found with both Sowilo and the 9 of Stones.

I think the gua or hexagram from the I Ching is the focus of this divination. We’ve experienced a loss from which we’ve yet to recover. A cycle has come to its completion and now we need time to regroup to regain our balance and our strength. It’s a time for observation and gathering information to plot a new course.

The taming power of the small is significant in that we’ll need to be savvy in the future to overcome whatever nightmare that will ensue. As the grandiose acts of the man-child in charge move forward, we will observe and plan. His reckless acts will dominate his and his minions’ attention and they’ll never see the rest of us coming. We’ll gather information and work behind the scenes to safeguard all that we have built for the day when truth will overshadow lies and deceit.

Dark forces will never be as strong as the powerful foundation of unity provides. With an empowered focus, our will is manifested into potential. The future may be uncertain, but we are not.

Many Blessings to our One Family! Let love overshadow hate as we abide in loving, unified Source Presence.
