I attempted to write up the Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune readings I do over on Stepping Aside’s Youtube Channel. I really did. But it felt redundant so I’ve decided to post the daily elemental influences reading I do for myself. I mentioned it during one of the readings the other day and here’s what I drew for today. Yesterday’s cards dealt with expressing a receptive presence…let’s see if that trend continues today.

I’m using the reverse side of the Enochian Skrying Tarot deck referred to as the Western Tattva Tarot. This deck is a Golden Dawn creation by Bill and Judi Genaw along with Chic and S. Tabatha Cicero and I find the dual deck interesting. The Enochian Scrying side is full of symbolism but I use the Tattva side to look at elemental influences as it uses both individual elements and combinations to arrive at how elemental energies affect our experiences.

The deck is divided into five sections pertaining to each element: Fire (Tejas/Ash, Red/Green), Air (Vayu/Ruach, Yellow/Violet), Water (Apas/Maim, Blue/Orange), Earth (Prithvi/Aretz, Black/White), and Spirit (Akasa/Eth, White). And although symbols from the IChing don’t appear on the cards, their titles appear to be taken from that ancient divination tool. And in this system, the deck is shuffled, cut once and the top half set to the side. From there, I draw only tri-elemental cards, that is those with three elemental symbols. Any other card is placed on the pile to the left.

The sixty-four tri-elemental cards in the deck are derived from the sixty-four guas of the I Ching and broken down by element. The guas or hexagrams are divided into three groups of two lines each and their line structure (solid and broken lines) and position on the hexagram determine the tri-elemental symbol of each card. The cards themselves are read from the inside out, so in the case of the first card, number 78 titled Pushing Upward, Ascent, we would read it as Air of Water of Earth, beginning with the center yellow triangle.

Success born from self-determination and the awareness that we’re in the right place at the right time are the primary interpretations of this card.

Freedom from attachment is at the heart of The Traveler, card 49 from the Western Tattva deck. Earth of Fire of Air are its elemental influences. The journey is what matters, process over attained goals, and the need to be in the flow of things are suggested by this card.

Endurance and Patience is the title of card 72, Air of Fire of Earth. Change is inevitable and how we embrace change matters. This card is suggesting that we blend intellect and will in balance when dealing with change that occurs in our lives. Remaining flexible and adaptable to change so that we remain positive is key.

To sum up, the elemental influences for today involve self-determination balanced with flexibility with an eye on the process to achieve the greatest success.

Blessings!
