I make every attempt not to listen to much of what the current occupant of the White House says because it’s typically so fragmented that I have a hard time tracking any of it. But since the election, his comments have taken a different tone. He’s now openly targeting members of the White House Press Corp, with today’s demeaning comments centering on black female journalists. He even took press credentials from a major network’s journalist ultimately accusing him of assaulting the intern who tried to take the microphone from him. The original video shows something else, but the one they found on an alternative news program gave them the viewpoint they needed so there you go.

He also appointed a questionable temporary replacement for Sessions, which isn’t sitting well with anyone. But he seems to fit right in with the boss and if his past comments are prologue as they say, he may try to stop the investigation.

He must be really angry or really worried because he flew to Paris just as another article came out about his directing the hush money payments to the two women he allegedly had sex with. That may have been the reason for dumping on female journalists. It’s his go-to when he needs to feel better about himself.

Looks like my chickens are in full molt. So no eggs for a while. We’re giving them some feather support pellets instead of their typical layer pellets. They can’t do both, lose and then grow feathers and also make eggs. It’s one or the other. They don’t like to be touched during this time so we’re keeping our distance, however several escaped the run yesterday when my husband left a gap in the gate while cleaning out the run. They went right back in, but they seemed to like their field trip, so we’ll do some more of that. We’ll watch them though given the predators around.

If you saw my comfrey poultice post, I just wanted to update everyone on my husband’s knee. It’s doing really well and I used some of the menstruum, because it was really dark after adding to it for several days, and combined it with some alcohol and made a liniment which is also working well now that the poultice treatment is over. I’ve also located all of my dried comfrey for more poultices when he inevitably trashes his knee again. Because he will. He’s nearly 65 and he still climbs trees when my back is turned.

We celebrate forty years together next May. When we taught karate, there were three of us who were Black Belts and when my husband filleted his leg open with a spear, the other Black Belt (traitor) conspired with my husband (head instructor) to hide that fact until after class was over and the students had left. One of the students had asked how sharp the spear was so they went outside and watched as he cut a couple of small tree branches. He also cut a two-inch slice in both his gi pants AND his leg. He and said traitor/Black Belt concealed the bandaging that went on and the traitor left quickly after class was over before I discovered just what had happened. By the time we arrived at the hospital for stitches, too much time had gone by and the doctor was unable to do anything other than clean it up and shake his head. One of the students had gifted him with a bandsaw blade and he made several weapons from it including the spear as well as my athame. It’s a lovely weapon, with a gut hook on the end, for an interesting in and out effect. But, I use it for ritual to represent Elemental Fire.

Rank is interesting in a dojo. But no rank is higher than an irritated wife, even when she’s of lower rank than the head instructor.

Lastly, Democrats took back the House! Yay! And it looks like the numbers will be even higher than on Election Day when all the votes are counted, and in some cases, recounted. More than one hundred women were elected this time, with two Native American women, two Muslim women, all of them representing the diversity our country is known for. No matter what the nationalists believe.

We really did something on Tuesday by electing these one hundred-plus women. It will no doubt change the tone in Congress. They will find women who will speak truth to power and who will not back down when our rights and security are threatened. The last election brought front and center the racism and misogyny that has plagued our country since its inception. As disgusting as it is, we cannot afford to look away. Instead, we need to take the reigns of power and bring order to chaos, and speak truth to the lies told for far too long.

It was a good day. And it was a great beginning!

Blessed Be
