With the government shut down, I thought it might be nice to create a bindrune for the Resistance to help everyone stay strong while this travesty we call a presidency continues to harm the country. So, I sat down at the altar, cast a circle, set my intention, and then began drawing runes from my rune bag. Four runes later, I had enough for the bindrune. Let’s take a look at what I drew.

Looking at the runes above from left to right, I drew Tiwaz, Fehu, Eihwaz, and then Nauthiz. Air and Fire…exactly what we need.

Tiwaz represents the spiritual warrior within. The seventeenth rune of the Elder Futhark, Tiwaz represents the god, Tyr, strength, and justice. It is the rune of self-discipline and higher ideals and establishes right order. It can be useful in legal matters and in expressing masculine or projective energy. A rune of Elemental Air, Tiwaz expresses faith and sacrifice.

Known as the sending rune, Fehu as the first rune of the Elder Futhark represents wealth and cattle as it invokes energy within and without. Fehu increases success and advances goals and projects. But it also invokes Elemental Fire within, and when used in rune magick, it assists the entire process by sending or casting that collective energy to the universe.

Eihwaz represents the transforming force of Spirit and is an expression of the as above, so below relationship of existence. With the thirteenth rune of the Elder Futhark, we experience a structure that is foundational. The connection between opposites (Air and Fire), a link between realms, Eihwaz guards against destructive behavior and increases our endurance when dealing with challenging situations.

Lastly, Nauthiz, as the tenth rune of the Elder Futhark, solidifies the bindrune as a Norn rune of the future. As the friction within, Nauthiz provides the resistance necessary to shape our lives. It awakens inner fire and catalyzes positive change. Like Fehu, Nauthiz increases the power of any working, and strengthens our collective unified presence.

After looking over the runes, I began drawing Tiwaz followed by adding a line at the bottom for Eihwaz. From there, Fehu was easy to spot and I added its two arms to the emerging sigil. The remainder of Nauthiz fit perfectly in the center, its diagonal line binding all runic energies in one sigil of resistance.

Runes on their own are powerful magick, but when combined into a bindrune or sigil, their elemental and astral energies blend to create something truly magickal. When crafting a bindrune, I first create sacred space for that working, also known as casting a circle. As I draw the runes from the bag I’m focused on the intention for the bindrune and allow the runes to decide the outcome. While drawing the sigil, I focus on the meaning of each rune that I’m using and visualize their energies blending together. When the final bindrune is complete, I typically burn it onto a small round piece of wood cut from trees on my property. Each part of the process is performed while maintaining a strong focus on my intention, in this case, resistance to forces of destruction.

It’s been a difficult two years and it’s not over yet. Mr. Mueller’s investigation is rumored to be nearing its end although with more and more coming out, we may not see its final conclusion for years to come. However, the resistance to all that this man represents continues unabated. Whether it’s the general citizenry or the more magickal among us, we’re united in our hope for peace and sanity, and for our one family to return home.

Blessings to all during this holiday season! If the bindrune resonates for you, feel free to recreate it for your own personal use. Carry it as a talisman, or however feels right, to cast the intention of #Resistance to self-interest and greed, oppression, war, abuse, and deception.

It’s my gift to everyone who believes in our collective unified presence…mighty warriors all in our quest for peace.

Blessed Be
