Lunar Transits for 20-22 March 2019

The Full Worm Super Moon was lovely last night until the clouds covered her. I was able to get a picture before that happened, and I’m including it in today’s post, albeit a little late. Full Moon and all. Plus, it was the Spring Equinox and I began observing Ostara at the same time. Sabbats are flexible like that. The calendar says the 21st, but it can also align with the Equinox, so I took time to walk around the garden looking for anything that might be coming up. I found clary sage, lemon balm, and wormwood coming up, and the winter vegetable bed I put in at the end of fall still had spinach and kale growing under the snow. I trimmed off some spinach to give to the chickens and I can tell you, they love me. Or, they love fresh produce.

In any event, the Moon transited into lovely Libra and the 1st House of identity, beginnings, and ego at 6:29 PM PDT on 20 March 2019 remaining there until Void of Course begins at 11:10 AM PDT on the 22nd. Relationships with others are a focus during this lunar period emphasizing clear communication. Avoid indecision by staying true to your own beliefs. The chart is below:

Strongest Influences

• Mode ~ Initiating Cardinal energies slightly overshadow Mutable (changeable) energies suggesting a need for flexibility while new projects or opportunities are beginning.
• Element ~ Contrasted with the strong Cardinal energies, one would think that Fire would be active, however Air dominates, so opportunities over the next few days may take an intellectual focus.
• Ray ~ Active: 2nd Ray of Love/Wisdom, 3rd Ray of Active Intelligence/Adaptability and 6th Ray of Devotion/Idealism foster compassion, intellect, flexibility, and loyalty. Associated Rays: Moon – 4th Ray of Harmony through Conflict; Libra – 3rd Ray of Active Intelligence/Adaptability

Aspects

An opposition with the Sun may leave us feeling at odds for the next couple of days. Will is attempting to find balance with our emotions, so it may be best to stay in observer mode and remain as flexible and non-reactive as possible. Libra’s influence always seeks balance and this aspect reflects that natural process. It’s a continual internal balance that we strike at any given moment and this aspect gives us an opportunity to look within and clear out what no longer serves. The Full Moon illuminates that which is in shadow. This lunar period provides an opportunity to balance Spirit with ego offering us a greater perspective than perhaps we originally had. Will can become carried away while emotions suggest a more compassionate approach.

Magickal Workings

I was able to get out and perform a magickal working at the time of yesterday’s Spring Equinox and I enjoyed the Moon until the clouds rolled in. Tonight, however, the Moon is in her Crone phase, and I’ll likely perform a trance working of some kind. I like the Crone phase for that purpose. It’s a nice way to bring the energies of the last lunar cycle to a close and to begin a new focus. The feeling is quieter after yesterday’s amplified energies and given that I’m in the Crone phase of life, I love this time for magicks of a personal nature which trance working can provide. But if not, then make use of Jupiter’s expansive influence if performing a working on Thursday and the loving influence of Venus on Friday. Algafra, the 15th Mansion of the Moon is active on Thursday and can be useful when finding lost items but it also “creates tension and discord as well as divorce, destroys homes and enemies, and interrupts travel” (Witch Notes, pg 97) so plan accordingly. Azubene, the 16th Mansion, isn’t much better by obstructing travel and weddings on Friday so offsetting any effect they may have will no doubt be in order as well.

With my own sign in Libra, I naturally feel the pull between Spirit and ego but for others it be quite a struggle between will and emotions. And then Libra’s intellectual side comes into play and we tend to try to reason our way out of everything. It’s a triple aspect experience between will, intellect, and emotions. We’re complicated like that. As an empath, when the Moon is in Libra I have the opportunity to stay more in observer mode which is enormously helpful when experiencing vampiric energy. Another way to see it is if emotions are in flux, the Moon in Libra can help alleviate some of that. Either way, stay as flexible as possible.
