Geomancy for July 2019
Seven geomancy symbols/runes comprise July’s esoteric influences suggesting an underlying foundation or focus to the reading. An initial look shows a predominance of Earth and Fire influences with both Air and Water of lesser impact while Saturn and Mars provide the strongest planetary influences. Each box is numbered and the chart is read from right to left.
The first two lines (boxes 1 – 12) create the weekly influences, again beginning on the right and moving left, while boxes 13 – 15 comprise the Right (past) and Left (future) Witness and the Judge (outcome). If a reconciler is needed, that symbol will be created by combining the symbols in boxes 1 and 15. The breakdown follows:
- Acquisitio – Air, Jupiter, Aries, gain, profit
- Carcer – Earth, Saturn, Capricorn, imprisonment, evil
- Fortuna Minor – Fire, Sun, Taurus, lesser fortune
- Carcer – Earth, Saturn, Capricorn, imprisonment, evil
- Caput Draconis – Earth, North Node, Capricorn, beginnings
- Amissio – Earth, Venus, Taurus, loss
- Populus – Water, Moon, Cancer, people, group behavior, follower
- Puer – Fire, Mars, Aries, young boy, impulsive action
- Fortuna Minor – Fire, Sun, Taurus, lesser fortune
- Acquisitio – Air, Jupiter, Aries, gain, profit
- Puer – Fire, Mars, Aries, young boy, impulsive action
- Puer – Fire, Mars, Aries, young boy, impulsive action
- Carcer – Earth, Saturn, Capricorn, imprisonment, evil (Right Witness)
- Populus – Water, Moon, Cancer, people, group behavior, follower (Left Witness)
- Carcer – Earth, Saturn, Capricorn, imprisonment, evil (Judge)
Week One
We begin the first week in July with a small amount of gain, but it may come at a price. Acquisitio, Carcer, and Fortuna Minor (boxes 1, 2, and 9) suggest expansive energy is available resulting in increased profits, but we may want to be certain that we don’t compromise or otherwise prevent any future success. Be mindful of Jupiter and Saturn’s retrograde influence on both Acquisitio and Carcer and use this time to profit from an inner focus.
Week Two
Although the geomantic symbols are shifted around, we have the same influences during week two as we did in week one. Again, given the lesser fortune of Fortuna Minor and the restrictive presence of Carcer, it may be that we’re getting in the way of our own success. And given that we’re experiencing the same influences as last week, we should take the opportunity to consider our own barriers to success.
Week Three
Unstable energy dominates during the third week of July with Caput Draconis indicating new beginnings followed by Amissio’s loss, ending with Puer and a potential lack of impulse control. It may be that whatever gains achieved during weeks one and two are threatened by our own choices and self-restriction. Guard against fragmented thinking or lost focus.
Week Four
We may find that the unstable energy felt last week increases during the last week of July with the appearance of Puer twice, and along with passive Populus, we may lack the assertion necessary this week to rise to any challenges we experience. Of course, if all of this is because we’re sabotaging our own success then going along with the crowd may be our best option.
The Right and Left Witnesses and the Judge
Populus again appears as the Left Witness describing a passive influence for the future. But instead of Puer appearing twice, Carcer appears as the Left Witness, or the influence representing the past, as well as the Judge, or overall outcome. Realistically, Carcer has been influencing all month. And its message is to get out of our own way and stop compromising our own success.
It may be that the unstable influence felt during July originates from our own lack of understanding and looking to the expertise of others may be the better option which is where Populus may be our greatest teacher. On the one hand, Populus describes a passive influence or one where we follow the crowd in lieu of our own path. But on the other, if we’re unprepared any success would either be in doubt or at least less than it could be and that appears to be what we may experience during July.
As humans, we tend to be our own worst enemies, jumping in when we’re clueless, overthinking everything, and trying to control where we should probably sit down, shut up, and let someone else drive the car. So to speak. But if we don’t get ahead of ourselves and instead look to others for support and guidance, we may find that we survive our greatest challenge of all: ourselves.
