Higher Self is influencing during August indicated by the presence of three cards from the Major Arcana in the reading each suggesting transformation is possible this month. I’m using the Haindl deck for this monthly reading instead of the typical Morgan-Greer choice because I love its multi-divination approach with its inclusion of runes, Hebrew and astrological glyphs, and hexagrams (guas) from the IChing. It has a wow factor like no other deck I’ve found.

I’m using a four-card spread, one card for each week along with an overall significator, in this case, The Sun. The overall numerology for the month is nine or completion and I’ll begin the interpretation with The Sun.

Significator

The Sun as the 19th card from the Major Arcana has a one numerology reflecting returning light and new beginnings. Haindl purposefully includes the Hebrew glyph Resh signifying the top, head, or new beginnings along with the gift of Gebo, the seventh rune from the Elder Futhark. The Sun glyph at the bottom right completes the sigils suggesting the self and inner motivation.

This is a card of new beginnings as the Sun rises each day bringing light to the world. Fertile ground stretches toward a body of water as the Sun rises over the Earth appearing to carve a path through the trees toward a single red rose glowing in anticipation.

The Sun reflects joy and optimism, awakening and transformation. A card of Spirit, The Sun represents rebirth along with clarity as well as success and material happiness. It portends a positive outcome for the coming month.

Week One

Transformation begins the first week of August with The Tower, the sixteenth card from the Major Arcana. A seven numerology, the Tower rebalances as it transforms. We see that an explosion has happened from lightning striking the Tower. Pieces of the tower fall to the ground as the fire continues to burn through the interior.

The Hebrew glyph Peh (mouth, scatter) appears in the upper left describing the transformative effect while Yrr (to err) appears in the upper right. Known as Algiz in the Elder Futhark, this rune is reversed with the antlers pointing downward into form suggesting the error of ego. A card of Mars, the planetary glyph appears in the lower right-hand corner.

The Tower describes catalytic change that’s positive and transformative. When this card appears, it’s suggesting that anything is possible during the first week of August and it may be reinforcing the positive influence from the reading’s significator, The Sun.

Week Two

The Five of Cups represents week two and suggests we may experience some disappointment this week. The numerology of five suggests both change and fulfillment during this week, but it may come at a cost.

Four golden chalices drip water into a fifth at the bottom of a rocky scene suggesting emotions left unfulfilled. A card of Mars in Scorpio, the 5 of Cups suggests rocky emotions that may not be grounded in reality. Even though we don’t know how much is left, the cups themselves are not empty suggesting that we have more strength than we realize.

The hexagram at the bottom of the card is titled the Taming Power of the Small suggesting that overreaction can become our best teacher.

Week Three

Haindl retitles this twentieth card from the Major Arcana, Aeon, patterned after the same card in Crowley’s Thoth Tarot deck and presents a complex rendition of this card of rebirth and transformation. A two numerology, Aeon describes the transformation from one state to another.

[wordads]

Shin (tooth, again), appears in the upper left corner while Perthro appears in the upper right. Both indicate rebirth or transformation, Shin describing the transition from one set of teeth to the next and Perthro describing the unknown aspect of the process. The astrological symbol for Pluto, the planet that transforms the ego into the awareness of the collective consciousness appears in the lower right-hand corner.

With Aeon, we experience a change in consciousness and are asked to see the bigger picture. We experience renewal with Aeon as we awaken to new experiences and realizations during week three.

Week Four

Virtue and the 3 of Wands inform week four with three flamed-tipped spears in balance in front of a stone structure, an open window revealing an unknown scene. A hexagram appears above titled The Cauldron invoking a feeling of tradition and ancestral influence.

Traditional interpretations suggest the energy of both synthesis and expansion of creative energy, but Haindl takes a more focused approach suggesting the strength found balance effort.

[wordads]

Week four may be building upon week three’s awakening and renewal providing the impetus for the 3 of Wand’s catalytic expression. Creativity may be at an all-time high, so express yourself!

In Conclusion

With The Sun lighting our way, August promises to be transformative fostering new experiences that are both positive and successful. This reading aligns well with the geomancy reading for the month with its own suggestion of success and transformation although that reading took a relationship focus.

[wordads]

Week Two may bring some disappointment but we possess the strength to make that work for us. The saying, when one door closes, another opens, may apply here. So don’t lose sight of the possibilities revealed in week one. Allow for transformation to take hold.

Until next month…

Tarot Blessings to all!
