Exploring Tarot: Queen of Wands
The Queen of Wands sits on her throne holding a sunflower in her left hand and a staff (wand) in her right, her face either turned to something unseen or toward the future. A black cat, her guardian or protector, sits on the ground in front of her looking at the querent while three pyramids are visible behind the Queen. Representing Elemental Fire, depictions of lions and sunflowers adorn the back part of her throne while a sculpted lion on each side of the throne serves as an armrest.
A dynamic and independent woman in authority, the Queen of Wands is honorable, creative, and eager to experience life. She is powerful, talented, accomplished, and successful. When she appears in the reading, she can either describe the querent or qualities that may assist in the querent’s personal growth. Reversed, she can be aloof, demanding, and untrustworthy. Otherwise, the Queen of Wands can be read in conjunction with other cards in the reading for a more precise interpretation.
