Today’s reading can be viewed from both personal and societal perspectives, especially given the events of last weekend. Beginning with the 5 of Swords, it’s clear that something upsetting has happened, either an argument, or perhaps you’ve felt undermined by someone else, and it will take seeing the situation from a higher perspective to be able to let go of the emotions you feel. Depending upon who you are in the 5 of Swords, you may be the individual by the water’s edge who is caught up in the emotions he is experiencing, or you may be the individual who is taking a step toward the man next to the water to offer support. Either way, you’ve experienced something deceptive that someone else is also impacted by, and you’re starting to understand the truth of it. So there’s a unity present that we see expressed by Conjunctio. From a society perspective, you may be upset about what’s happening in this country and, for example, want to become part of a growing resistance movement.
Moving on to the 10 of Swords, although the scene certainly looks dicey, the swords represent the thoughts the individual has that either need to be put into a different perspective, or can derive benefit from the lessons learned from the situation suggested by the 5 of Swords. His face is turned to the light, giving him (and you) the ability to begin anew. If this reading applies to what’s happening in our society right now, it could indicate a willingness to let go of thoughts that keep you separated from others, replacing those thoughts with a higher vision of unity and harmony. From there, you’re willing in the Ace of Wands to take action on that new vision. Aces reflect new beginnings, and in the case of the Ace of Wands, it suggests new growth and potential, and new opportunities for a more unified collaboration with others.
