New Book: Grimoire of a Crone

I decided to put together a grimoire that focuses on life as both an empath and a witch and the Kindle version published today. I’ll do a print version as well and with any luck, I can use the existing cover. The last book I wrote,  Confessions of a Back Porch Herbalist ended up having a different cover, but it was nice so it worked out just fine.

This book is for those witches who create their own craft. Not everyone wants to be in a coven. I would venture to guess that most witches are solitary as I am. Because my life as an empath affects my life as a witch, I felt it was appropriate to discuss what an empath actually is. It’s easy to believe with all the emotions we experience that empaths are emotional basket cases. And sometimes that’s true, but it’s never for the reason we believe. Some of what I’ve written centers on coping strategies such as shielding so that the empath can protect herself from the surrounding chaos.

The second part of the grimoire is the witch section with correspondences and divination tools, plus a little ancestry that I’ve discovered. Runes, Tarot, and Numerology round out that section, with some rune magick as well. And since no self-respecting hedge witch would write a grimoire without an herb section, I included a materia medica at the end.

It’s a little different take on a typical grimoire, but then I’m a Crone now and I really don’t care what people think about that. And while it doesn’t completely reflect everything I’ve acquired over nearly sixty years of living, it gives the basics. I prefer a simplified approach, and occasionally I actually achieve that.

At the end of the day, the witch needs nothing to express her craft. But it’s nice to have something to refer to when you can’t remember which crystal to use on a Saturday for banishing unwanted behavior, etc. And if it stimulates others to develop their own grimoire, then all the better!
